Donald A. Osier

d. May 14, 2020

Donald A. Osier, 63, of Plattsburgh passed away after a short battle with cancer. Donnie was the youngest child of Paul and Marion Osier.
Donnie (or Big O) worked for Terry Meron for over thirty five years as a carpenter. You can see much of his handiwork at the Comfort Inn. Terry always gave him the most difficult job because he knew “Big O” would do the best job possible. He also dabbled in etched glass spending countless hours making sure everything was done to his liking.
Donnie was the most selfless and helpful person who didn’t like a lot of attention. Sometimes he came across as grumpy, but those that knew him best, knew he had a heart of gold.
Because he wanted to be home, he opted to be taken care of by his neighbors, Jon and Lisa Kriplin. One or both of them would take him home each day and let him spend time in his own house with his cat Smoky.
We can’t thank Jon and Lisa enough for all they did for Don and the family. Also a huge thank you goes out to Heather and Becky from Hospice. The four of you are angels here on earth.
Donnie is survived by a brother David of Brooklyn Center, MN, and his daughters Beth, Becky and Jenny, sister Elaine (Frank)Kelly of Hastings, MN and nephews Steve and Jeff Kelly and sister Jean (Mark “Spud”) Finnell of Cadyville and niece Shannon and nephew Mark, sister-in-law Patti Chauvin Osier and her daughter Charissa. Don was predeceased by his parents and brother Douglas.
A graveside service will be held at the Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Heald Funeral Home.
