Dolores “Dodie” Jean Mooney, 59, of Plattsburgh, N.Y. died unexpectedly at her home, Tuesday, February 18, 2020. She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. on Oct. 16, 1960, the daughter of Walter and Jean (Gonyo) Mooney. Dolores graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1979 and Keuka College in 1983 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Nursing was her passion and she was employed by CVPH Medical Center for many years. She was a devoted animal lover and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include her daughter and best friend, Chelsea Mooney of Plattsburgh; her father Walter Mooney (Jane) of West Chazy; one brother, Alan Mooney (Kathleen) of Chazy; two sisters, Cathy McCann of Bradenton, Florida and Penny Dumas (Andrew “Opey”) of West Chazy; one nephew, Daniel Mooney, and two nieces, Morgan Bushey (Dustin) and Michelle Rushford. She is also survived by two very special cousins who she thought of as sisters; Bonnie Leonelli and Lori Macaulay, good friend Marcy McNally and her beloved pets.
Dolores was predeceased by her beloved mother Jean (Gonyo) Mooney and her canine companion of 15 years, Libby.
There will be no calling hours. However, a celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 1st, 2020 from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Mariner Bar and Grill, 4016 Route 9, Peru, N.Y. All are welcome.
