Dennis K. "Denny" Egglefield

Dennis K. (Denny) Egglefield, 70, passed peacefully on Thursday August 2, 2018 surrounded by family and friends at his home in Elizabethtown, NY after a battle with cancer.
Denny was born March 18, 1948, to the late Spencer A. Egglefield and Meredith Daigneau. He was born, raised, and thrived in Elizabethtown, leaving a lasting legacy of community involvement and charity. He was a 1966 graduate of Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School and spent his entire life in the same community.
After high school Dennis attended Hudson Valley community college and then Oswego State University to become a Teacher at Keene Central School from 1970 through 1972.
In 1970 he traded his passion for Midget and Drag racing to marry the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Joan Carol Redmond with whom he shared 48 years of love, built a home, and raised three children.
In 1972 the family business, Egglefield Brothers Ford, endured a devastating fire in which the business suffered a total loss, after which Dennis chose to give up a career in teaching to return to the family business and rebuild with his father, Spencer and his uncle, Lew (Bud) Egglefield. Dennis eventually purchased the business from his father and uncle, and continued to operate and serve his community for the remainder of his life.
Denny was a member of several Car Collector clubs as well as a member of the Elizabethtown Kiwanis Club, Masons, and served on the Board of Directors for New England Ford Dealers. He actively sponsored car shows, community and charity events, and racing events for many years. Denny was one of the lucky few whose job (cars) was also his passion and hobby. His love of cars led Denny to spend tireless hours with friends and volunteers in the collector community. While cars were his passion, he was also a talented musician, and an accomplished artist.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 48 years and their three children; Cory Egglefield (Jennifer), Shelby Egglefield, and Kent Egglefield (Terry), and 8 grandchildren; Beckham, Madison, McKenna, Malory, Emma, Alexander, Harper, and Rowan. Dennis is also survived by his four sisters; Deidre Egglefield, Wendy Daniels (Judd), Patricia Baker (Paul), and Kari Egglefield. He is also survived by his brother in law Greg Redmond, wife Donna, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was predeceased by his parents; Spencer A. Egglefield and Meredith Daigneau, his step-mother Ellen Egglefield, and his in laws Phillip and Vergina Redmond.
Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, August 7th, from 3-7pm at the Heald Funeral Home, Inc., 7521 Court Street, Elizabethtown, NY. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 8th, at 10am, at the Roscoe Road Cemetery in Elizabethtown, followed by a reception at The Westport Hotel and Tavern in Westport.
In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made in Dennis' name to the Elizabethtown-Lewis Volunteer Ambulance Squads, the Elizabethtown-Lewis Volunteer Fire Department, or The North Country SPCA.
