Dayl Willette, born on January 8th, 1954, in Saranac Lake to Addie M. and Paul A. Willette, passed away with his family by his side on September 27th, 2022 at his home in Plattsburgh, NY.
Dayl was a skilled hockey player who graduated from Saranac Lake Central High School in 1969. He continued to excel in hockey as a student of North Country Community College from 1974 to 1977. Dayls hard work and dedication to hockey even landed him a spot on the Los Angeles Kings. After the close of Dayls professional hockey career, he started a new career as a corrections officer where he served faithfully for 25 years until he happily retired.
Dayl was born into a large family as one of 13 siblings including; Darryl, Cheryl, Karyl, Gerryl (deceased), Micheyl, Randyl, Kristyl, Loweyl, Erryl, Royl (deceased), Russyl, and Kendyl (deceased). Dayl is survived by his wife Caroline Willette, and his three daughters, Dayline, Jamyla, and Sarah Willette.
One of the greatest sources of Dayls strength, and one of his proudest accomplishments were his three children. No matter what, Dayl was always there for them. To cook their breakfast, bring them to school, drive them to practice and cheer them on during their games, Dayl was even there for them if they ever got themselves into a little trouble, but probably most importantly of all, Dayl was always there to dry their tears.
It was very important to Dayls wife and children that Dayl be laid to rest in a place that was not only beautiful but also where he would be warm and comfortable. To give him these well deserved comforts, his family has chosen to have Dayls final resting place be in a mausoleum.
A small, private service will be held for Dayl during the first week of October. Dayl was loved dearly by his friends and family who will all miss him very much.
