Clifton (Cliff) James Legacy, 86, completed his earthly life journey and began his glorious heavenly journey on March 2, 2023. He was born in 1936 in Belmont, N.Y., son of Clifton (Kip) and Ruth (Cromp) Legacy.
He attended and graduated from Franklin Academy, Malone, N.Y. Following graduation, he attended Clarkson University for one year. He began a lifelong career with the A.T.T., New York Telephone, and Verizon Telephone Company. Following his retirement, for several years, he delivered “Penny Saver” for the Adirondack Penny Saver, where he made many friends and acquaintances on his route. He served as a volunteer for RSVP and Office Of Aging. In 2014, he was awarded 2013 RSVP Volunteer of the Year Award for 19 years as a Rural Transportation Driver. Cliff was a longtime member of the Westport Fish and Game Club, a member of the Mountain Lakers Snowmobile Club and the former Bessboro Ski-ters Snowmobile Club. Cliff and his wife were among the founding members of the Westport Bible Church. Their home housed the church until the church bought a former restaurant on the Young’s Road. Cliff and his wife enjoyed many years of snowmobiling, and camping in the summer months.
Cliff is survived by his wife Kay (Bigelow), his children, Brian (Sandy) Legacy, Robin (Rick) Banks, Kevin (Donna) Legacy, and Matthew (Olivia)Legacy. Step children, Darcy (Charles), Manon, Alvin Pierce Jr., Corey (Linda) Pierce. Grandchildren, Mallery (Josh) Hance, Ross Manon, Robert Banks, Danny Banks, Heather Banks, Suzanne Fritz, Tiffany Legacy, Kristofer Legacy, Meredith Greenfield, Dani, Eric, Kennedi and Jones Legacy. Great grandchildren, Allie and Brayden Dezalia, Kyleigh, Taylor, Emma and Bentley Hance, Jaxson and Nora Manon, Kalyn Trolan, Kristopher Lehman, Shayleigh Barrett. Siblings, Dick (Molly) Legacy, Shelva (Don) Holmes, Faye Smith, and Gary Legacy, brothers-in-law Jay (Karen) Bigelow, Ralph Cowin, and sister-in-law Bonne Daniels. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Clifton (Kip) and Ruth Legacy and several Uncles and Aunts.
Our family’s and hearts are so full as we have received so many memories and tributes to his full life of service and love for the community. A memorial service will be held March 18 at 1 p.m. at the Westport Bible Church, Young’s Road, Westport, N.Y.
