Clayton E. Manion, 84, of Harkness Road, passed away Thursday October 13, 2016 at UVM Health Network CVPH in Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh on March 23, 1932 son of the late Charles and Laura (Bell) Manion.
Clayton proudly served in the US Army retiring in 1983 after 20 years of service. He served in Korea, two tours in Vietnam, and also stationed in Japan where he met his wife Emiko. Clayton also served in Germany. He received the National Defence Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star and RVN Campaign Medal.
Clayton is survived by his wife Emiko Manion of Peru, six siblings; Carl Manion and his wife Bernadette of Plattsburgh, Richard Manion and his wife Ilona of Louisville, KY., Jeanetta Rose and her friend John Coupal of Plattsburgh, Kenneth Manion and his wife Shirley of Plattsburgh, Doreen Tasco and her husband John of Dallas, PA., Clifford Benway and his wife Peggy of Lake Lazerne, two grandchildren; Danny Manion and his wife Lynn, Rea Manion both of Plattsburgh, one great granddaughter Kitana Manion, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son Danny Manion, a brother Lester Manion, and a sister Winifred Johnson.
Calling hours will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Sunday October 16, 2016 at Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh. A graveside service, with full military honors, will be 11:00 AM Monday October 17, 2016 at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
