Cecillia Mahoney

Cecillia Jean Mahoney passed away at UVM Medical Center in Burlington on September 11, 2024 following a valiant fight with cancer. She was born on September 9, 1980, in Middlebury, VT. She will be deeply missed by her entire family, including her mother Penny Tromblee and her step-father Peter Tromblee, brothers George Mahoney, IV, and Steven Mahoney, as well as her cherished nieces, Emily and Elissa Mahoney, who all survive her.

Cecillia dedicated her life to public service and served many years as an Offender Rehabilitation Coordinator with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. She had a profound love and respect for her colleagues, often expressing her admiration for the dedicated officers she worked alongside.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Cecillia found joy in her artistic pursuits, where she was often found immersed in painting and crafting. Her passion for nature and the outdoors was unmistakable, as she frequently took her nieces on unforgettable hiking trips, instilling in them a deep appreciation for the world around them.

Her love for traveling took her to various corners of the globe, from the serene landscapes of Alaska to the vibrant shores of Florida. Cecillia's compassionate nature extended to those around her, as she delighted in baking cupcakes for the staff at the Adirondack Correctional Facility, spreading warmth and kindness wherever she went.

A Funeral Service will take place at the First Congregational Church of Lewis on September 16, 2024 with visitation at 9:00 am, and the Funeral Service commencing at 10:00 am, followed by interment at the Lewis Cemetery.
