Caroline Alwilda Williams Carson, affectionately known by her family and friends as “Wilda,” went to be with God on Sunday January 22, 2017. Her beloved husband, Robert Carson, was surely there to greet her, and we all find great comfort in knowing that they are together once again. Their love knew no bounds- stretching far and wide across all earthly and heavenly landscapes, growing steadfast and stronger in both life and death. Her love for her husband was only matched by the love that she had for her family; the most caring and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Wilda was born on September 6, 1926 in Utica, NY to Caroline and Richard Williams. She grew up in Essex, NY, on Lake Champlain, which is where she met her husband, and is also where she will be laid to rest. Wilda loved the lake, the fresh air, her roots, blue mints, bingo, Roy Clark, and the color purple. And her home was arguably the best view in town.
She is survived by her son Ricky Carson (Arpy), her daughters Molly LaViolette (Louis) and Carolyn Carson, and her seven grandchildren: Raymond Carson, Michelle Barrington (William), Michael LaViolette (Krystal), Caroline Russ (Stuart), Kristin Pratt (Terry), Sarah Russ (Bruce), and Brendan Russ. She is also survived by her brother Richard Williams (Joanne), several nieces, nephews and great grandchildren whom she loved deeply.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Wilda during her 90 years, among them: listen to more country music, travel as much and as often as you can, love hard, and, of course, hold the onions! It’s hard to imagine life without Wilda, but we will keep on truckin’ as she would have wanted us to; reveling in our faith that we will all be together again someday.
