Bruce James Patnode, 85, of willsboro passed away Wednesday October 6, 2021 at CVPH. He was born to Elmer and Leda (Marcoux) Patnode of Willsboro on June 14, 1936.
After graduating from Willsboro Central, Bruce enlisted in the Army (1954-1956) where he was stationed in France. Bruce enjoined his deployment by exploring European cities. After his service was over, Bruce returned home to Willsboro where he married Vera Conners in 1957 and obtained his teaching degree from Plattsburgh State shortly thereafter.
Bruce and Vera were blessed with four sons who were raised on Willsboro Point in a home which Bruce renovated throughout the years and enjoyed many family gatherings of laughter and games. Throughout Bruce’s life, he has had many interests and hobbies; such as wood carving, travel, hunting, fishing, and reading, which he passed along to his sons and granddaughters.
Bruce is survived by his son Stephen, granddaughters; Jennifer Patnode and Amy (Michael) Sherwood, and great grandson, Cash Sherwood. He also is survived by his loved partner of several years, June MacDougall, siblings; Robert (Helen) Patnode, Carl (Tootie) Patnode, and Elaine Cote. Bruce was predeceased by wife of 49 years, Vera, sons; David, Timothy, and Gregory. As well as siblings, Ellis Patnode, Ronnie Patnode, Jane Pelizzari, Lorraine Hathaway, and MaryLou Patnode.
Bruce will be remembered and missed by his numerous extended loved ones as well as the students he taught.
Calling hours are to be held Wednesday October 13th 9:00 t0 11:00 AM at Heald Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A memorial service be held at 11:00 am, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery.
