Brian Robert Phinney, 57, of Lewis died unexpectedly at his home on February 8, 2016. Brian was born September 7, 1958 in Keene Valley, NY the son of Robert and Mary Ann Phinney.
Brian was a lifelong resident of Lewis. He worked for many years as a millwright at Allen Rogers Corp. before finding his way to the Essex County Highway Department, where he worked as a master welder. Brian could be described as skilled but unassuming, with a great imagination for anything mechanical. Brian found joy in his family, his beloved companion Stubby and the solitude of his workshop.
Brian is predeceased by his parents and one brother Keith. He is survived by five sons and two daughters, Brian Phinney Jr of Lewis, James (Beth) Phinney of Willsboro, Michael (Kami)Phinney of Willsboro, Nathan Phinney of Plattsburgh, Casey (Kay) Phinney of Willsboro, Brittany Phinney and Briana Pulsifer both of Willsboro. He also leaves behind two sisters and two brothers, Debra (Paul) Desautels of Keeseville, Darcia (Wayne) Reeves of Peru, Robert (Martha) Phinney of Dannemora and Shane (Trina) Phinney of Plattsburgh.
Brian also leaves behind his aunt and uncle, Harry and Pat McCray, nine grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 12th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Marvin-Heald Funeral in Elizabethtown. A service will be held Saturday, February 13th at 9 am also at Marvin-Heald Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Deerhead Cemetery in Lewis.
