PLATTSBURGH — Bernice Mary Conley, age 95, of 32 Sailly Avenue, Plattsburgh, N.Y., passed away on Sept. 26, 2012, at CVPH Medical Center.
She was born in Fort Covington, N.Y. on Dec. 13, 1916, the daughter of Octave and Valida (Drouin) Demers. Due to the death of her mother on Dec. 4, 1917, and her fathers death on Oct. 30, 1918, she was reared by her paternal Grandmother, Mrs. Mary (Louis) Demers and Uncle, Joseph Demers.
She graduated from Plattsburgh High School and attended Todds Business School.
She was united in marriage to Edmund J. Conley on June 17, 1937 at St. John's Church. He predeceased her on Sept. 26, 1975. She was also predeceased by her son, Michael Francis Conley, on May 30, 1967.
She was retired from Dame Outdoor Advertising Corporation as bookkeeper following years of employment, and by contractors at the Plattsburgh AFB, Capehart Housing and missile construction sites.
She was involved in the early years of the Clinton County Christmas Bureau, St. Johns School parents group, and in the American Gold Star Mothers Association following the death of her son, Michael, in Vietnam.
She is survived by her daughter, June (Ronald) Seymour of S.C.; and her sons, James and Thomas Conley of Plattsburgh, N.Y. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 P.M. Friday, Sept. 28, at Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29th at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
