CHAZY – Bernard E. Perry, Sr., (Bernie), 79 of Chazy, NY died at CVPH on November 11, 2013 with his loving family by his side. He was a Korean War Veteran where he served as a front line medic. In 1952, Bernie was awarded the Combat Medical Badge for his service under enemy fire while serving in Korea. Bernie was a proud Veteran and left this world on Veteran's Day.
Bernie was loved by all who knew him. He was a great Husband, Father, Grandfather (PaPa), Brother, Uncle and Friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Alice J. (King) Perry. He is also survived by Two sons, Bernard E. Perry, Jr. and his companion Pamela Blatcher of Lafayette, NY; Stephen R. Perry and his wife Janet of Chazy, NY and their children Victoria and Chelsea ; Three daughters, Gail M. Bowman and her husband Steve of Chazy, NY, and their children Eric and his wife Jennifer of Chazy, NY and Alyse of Annapolis, MD; Rebecca J. Laurin and her husband Kevin of Chazy, NY and their children, Corey and Jessica; Christine M. O'Brien and her husband John of Chazy, NY and their children Johnny and Alyssa. Two great grandchildren, Isaac and Ethan Bowman of Chazy, NY. Two Brothers, Simon G. Perry, Jr. and his companion Claudette of Cadyville, NY; David Perry and his wife Sharron of Morrisonville, NY; Four sisters, Joan Reyell of Saranac, NY; Linda Latour of Plattsburgh, NY; Barbara Dyer and husband Rick of Great Falls, Montana and Debbie Bennett of Watertown, NY. Bernie is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Bernie was predeceased by his parents, Simon G. Perry, Sr. and Anita M. (Daniels) Perry; Three brothers, James Perry of Pryor, OK; Gary Perry of Plattsburgh, NY and Thomas Perry of Cadyville, NY; Two sisters, Shirley Fredette of Essex, VT and Margaret Allen of Plattsburgh, NY.
Bernie was a member of The American Legion, Post 769 in Chazy, NY; VFW Post 1418 in Champlain, NY; The Korean War Association; The 15th Infantry Regiment Association; The 3rd Infantry Division; Chazy Lions Club and The Chazy Rod and Gun Club.
There will be no public calling hours. Friends and relatives will be received at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy, NY on Friday November 15, 2013 at 10 am. Funeral Mass will begin at 11 am. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chazy Volunteer Fire Department or to the family.
