Barbara Ann Vaughan Wrisley passed away at CVPH Medical Center on July 6, 2019. At the age of 84, with family by her side. She was a devoted wife and mother.
During her lifetime she was active in the Westport community. She was a Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader, Sunday School superintendent of the Westport Federated Church, active member of the Elizabethtown Westport Garden Club, Red Hats and Member of the Westport cemetery committee. She and her husband ran a small grocery store on Main Street in Westport for a short time. She was employed at the Champlain National Bank until she owned her own business, Buttercup Florist in Port Henry NY.
She has knitted and crocheted many mittens, hats, and blankets that were donated to many charities. She and her husband provided hay for the Word of Life horses in Schroon Lake, NY for many years.
She is survived by her 3 children, her daughter Tracey(David) Sayre of Westport NY, and sons Mark (Cindy) Wrisley of Essex NY, Russ (Elizabeth) Wrisley, of Booneville, NY. 9 grandsons: Jason (Heather) Sayre, Eric (Kathleen) Sayre, Kenneth Sayre, Kevin (MaryBeth) Sayre, Clayton Wrisley, Derrick Wrisley and fiance Emily Colvin, Seavor Wrisley, Tyler Wrisley, and Connor Wrisley. 7 Great grandchildren, Olivia, David, Alyssa, Nathan, Zoey, Kaleb, and Noah Sayre. Siblings, Richard Vaughan (Sandy Lashomb), Terry Judith Vaughan VanEvera (William), Frank Jeffery Vaughan (Electa) and sister-in-law Lucille Wrisley of New Jersey, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded by her Husband Donald E. Wrisley; they were married 61 years, her parents, Rupert and Alysa(Barber) Vaughan, her sister, Nancy lee Vaughan Carter, her In-laws: Charles (Jane) Wrisley, Marvin Wrisley, Raymond (Valerie) Wrisley and Mildred Wrisley.
Calling hours will be Saturday July 13, 2019 from 10-12 at Heald Funeral Home in Elizabethtown NY. Interment of both Donald and Barbara Wrisley will follow immediately after at Black Brook Cemetery in Westport NY.
Calling hours will be Saturday July 13, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Heald Funeral Home, 7521 Court Street, Elizabethtown. A funeral Service will follow at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow in the Black River Cemetery in Westport.
A reception will follow the burial at the home of Barbara and Donald.
