PLATTSBURGH
Barbara E. Potter, 82, of Plattsburgh and formerly of Carthage, Black River and Morristown, died on July 8, 2014. She was born on February 1, 1932, in Watertown, New York. Barbara was the daughter of John J. Clark and Esther Burkett Clark.
Barbara graduated from Black River High School in 1948. She married Donald N. Potter on July 21, 1951 at the Black River Methodist Church.
Barbara was a dedicated homemaker and also an accomplished secretary. She held positions in the villages of both Carthage and Black River. Mr. and Mrs. Potter traveled extensively during their retirement, visiting every state in America. They also traveled to Canada and Mexico, and made three trips abroad.
Barbara is survived by her six children, Donald Jr. of North Creek, NY, Michael (Chris) of Tucson, AZ, Stephen (Velina) of Nashville, TN, Melanie Clark (Keith) of Plattsburgh, Natalie Yadon (Ken) of Canon City, CO, and Susanne Melchione (Bill) of Raphine, VA.; fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, and brothers John Clark and Dale Moffett.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Dannemora, with the Reverends Gary and Wendi Rhodehamel officiating. Burial will be in the Saranac Independence Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Plattsburgh Church of the Nazarene, 187 Broad Street, Plattsburgh.
