Alma Rosalie Pelkey, 91, of Church Street in Keeseville, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord with her family by her side Monday, July 6, 2015 at Essex Center in Elizabethtown. She was born in Black Brook on May 8, 1924, daughter of the late William and Georgiana (Trombley) Furnia.
Alma was the widow of John H. Pelkey whom she married January 14, 1943. He passed away March 2003 and were married 60 years. Alma loved working in her flower beds. She had a very strong faith in God, was an excellent seamstress, loved doing crossword puzzles and reading, love visiting with everyone. She was a loving wife and wonderful mother.
Alma is survived by one son; John R. Pelkey and his wife Kathryn of Morrisonville, one daughter; Bonnie Mitchell of Keeseville, three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by six brothers and four sisters.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday July 13, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of donations, Masses may be said in her memory.
