Alfred H. “Fred” Meyer, 85, of Douglaston Drive in Beekmantown, passed away Thursday September 18, 2014 at his home surround by his family. He was born in Haledon, NJ on September 18, 1929 to the late Alfred and Alfrieda (Hugenbruch) Meyer.
Fred served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He attended Rutgers University and graduated from Fairleigh Dickenson University with his B.S. in Chemistry. Fred enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and especially the ocean.
Fred is survived by his wife the former Dorothy Supernaw Fountain of 27 years, four daughters; Dr. Kerry Chandlier of NC., Megan Gibson of NJ., Leslie Haun of NJ., Christine Plumadore of Redford, two sons; Robert Fountain, Jr. of Saranac, Gregory Fountain of MA., eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be Tuesday September 23, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Saranac Independence Cemetery in Saranac.
Donations in Fred’s Memory may be made to DAV Chapter #179 Van fund.
