Jean M. Stow

January 27, 1954 — April 1, 2021

Jean M. Stow, 67, of Porky Ryan Road, passed away with her daughter by her side on Thursday April 1, 2021 in the comfort of her own home. She was born in Plattsburgh on January 27, 1954. The daughter of the late Orville and Mary (Carpenter) Stewart.
Jean grew up on the Rand Hill Rd in Morrisonville. Jean was the fourth child and the oldest girl in a family of ten children. Jean helped take of care and support her sibling along with the household upkeep. She attended St Alexanders School then transitioned to Saranac Central School after 8th grade. Jean was part of the civil air patrol that was based out of the Plattsburgh air force base. Soon after starting this journey Jean began having seizures, this dream was cut way to short. Jean was a stay-at-home mom for many years. She then started managing housing apartments which moved her all over the country. When she settled back into the north country, she co-owned a painting business. She caught the entrepreneur bug and decided at age 40 to go back to school. She graduated from CV-TEC with high honors receiving her GED and cosmetology license in 1997. For 24 years she successfully owned and operated “The New You Salon” out of her home. Jean loved being a hairdresser. She was able to touch so many lives and make so many unforgettable friendships. She worked in her shop cutting hair until October of 2020.
Jean was a gifted artist in her younger years where she enjoyed cross-stitching, wood - working and restoring old things to make them new again. Jean was a two-time breast cancer survivor. After her first her first battle with cancer she decided life was to short and was going to do something she always wanted to do. The Saranac school system was offering adult education classes and to her delight one was a beginner quilting class. Jean then a member of the Champlain Valley Quilters Guild. She was a gifted quilter, spending countless hours creating works of art to be shared with her friends and loved ones. Some of Jean’s other joys were working in her flower beds and bird watching. She always loved a good book and teaching her grandchildren to read. Jean loved Christmas and everything about it! She loved cooking her famous charismas dinner with her homemade oatmeal rolls, yummy date cookies, and her white pork. She always went above and beyond for her family during this time of year making sure no one was left out. Which makes sense because family was her number one joy in life.

Jean may have been small in stature but what she lacked in size she made up for in fierce determination and strength. She let nothing stand in the way of her dreams. Jean was a compassionate, giving soul who was as humble as they come. Never one to shy away from challenges, she never complained when things went wrong and loved with the deepest emotion a person can. She was a devoted wife, mother, mimi, grandmother, and loyal friend. With her unfeigned demeanor, she touched the hearts of so many people. Jean the daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend will forever be missed by all.
Jean is survived by her loving mother Mary (Carpenter) Stewart; one biological daughter, Erica Larrabee and her partner, Nicholas Daniels; four grandchildren, Alyssa Peryea, Elliot Peryea, Reilly Daniels, and Ryker Daniels.
